Illegally Blonde Cocktail

Standard

Last month I celebrated my graduation from nursing school with some great friends. We had dinner at Bond 45 and while we were there I had a Prohibition Era cocktail called an Illegally Blonde (I have no idea how accurate the era of the cocktail is). It was so delicious! It tasted like sweetened grapefruit juice. Really, couldn’t taste the alcohol at all.

Last night I had the same friends over for “Cupcakes and Cocktails” after the kids were in bed. We had my recreation of that amazing drink, some cinnamon spice cupcakes with maple cinnamon icing, gin soaked fruit, and gin and tonic cupcakes. Everything about last night was wonderful.  Here is my recreation of the Illegally Blonde for you to try for yourself.

Illegally Blonde

Ingredients:

  • 1 part Beefeater Gin
  • 1 part St. Germaine Elderflower Liqueur
  • 2 parts White grapefruit juice (use 100% juice style, or fresh)
  • 2.5 parts Simple Syrup
  • 1 lemon wedge per serving

Directions:

Add all liquids into a shaker filled with ice. Strain into glass over a lemon wedge. Enjoy!
